Rev Up Your Website With Backlinks

Filed under: website traffic — admin @ 4:03 pm

When you started your Internet marketingjourney you did your research, found a special niche, got up your website and now you’re waiting for all that traffic.  One of the key ways to get that traffic is through backlinks.   So what are backlinks?  They are incoming links from another website to a website or page on that website.  The number of backlinks pointing to a website will help determine the ranking of the website.   The more backlinks the better as long as they are quality links and relevant to the site.  The number of backlinks is very important when you are doing SEO(search engine optimization).

The websites at the top of google for a certain keyword will usually have a large number of backlinks that helped them get to the top of the ranking.  And the links will be relevant to the site.  Google does not like links to sites that aren’t relevant to that site.  This can hurt your ranking.  Another bad idea is reciprocal linking in which one site links to another and vice versa.  This was quite popular for awhile but google has frowned on this practice when excessive.  They realized sites were doing it just to get more links and not about relevancy and quality.

When you are building your backlinks, yo should keep track of your backlinks and know who is linking to you.  Are your links just to your homepage or to different pages?  It is better to have links to many pages on your site as this will show google relevancy in many pages on your site.

When your links are in anchor text then this will greatly enhance your chances of increased ranking.  Anchor text is having key word hyperlinked instead of words like click here or your site url.  If your site is on bird food then use those words or related words for your link.

Backlinks are vital to your success and you need to add as many quality links as possible so people will know you are there.  It is a slow process but be persistent and it will pay off.
